Doughs are made from scratch, breads rise all night, even birthday & wedding cakes are made the old fashioned way...and it shows in the taste! At 5 am the doors may be locked but the bakery is already in full swing for the daily batch of homemade goodies made from scratch. On weekends, residents wait for the doors to open at 8 AM for homemade donuts & coffee. Maybe bringing home some homemade strudels or muffins to share with the not-so-early risers! Specialities like wedding & birthday cakes are all homemade too. We can't say that word enough (homemade)!!...it is the secret ingredient that makes their baked goods stand out in the crowd. Just hearing a partial list of wedding cookies will make any mouth water: nut balls, spritz, thumbprint, viennese crescent, cheese crescents, carmel delights, kifli, pineapple bars, chocolate bon-bons, blackbottoms, chocolate covered cherry cookies, & a long list more! And if the cookie you want isn't on the list - just ask! Birthday cakes are decorated with icing characters or also with the photo image you bring in to them. Want something different? Maybe you've seen the shower breads in pink or blue but Grandma's has done hoagie buns in colors like purple & yellow! You can order your bread for a sandwich ring or try a 6 foot long hoagie bun! Grandma's is a welcome addition to the Penn Township Business Association and has donated many delicious baked goods for several community events.
